Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear in what I was saying lol - suppose I get offered a place I can't accept (like AMS1 who got offered Preston). Can I hold that offer, even though I don't want it, in the hope of an upgrade coming through? And if no upgrade came through, just decline the original offer? Do you see what I mean?

This is all hypothetical mind as I'm waiting for biochem which isn't out til next week - watch me get 'interview unsuccessful' now and all this wondering won't matter a jot hahaha

Oh sorry! Yes you can hold the offer! There is an option for that. That is applicable for either a different specialism or location. Best of luck for next week, fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I definitely can't do Preston but I'm holding it to see if anyone in the positions I want will pass on it, allowing me to take their place. I feel a bit harsh because someone on the reserve list will be able to have my Preston place but won't know it, but there's nothing that says that I can decline this one and still get offered another one for the same job if it comes up, so unfortunately I don't have a choice :s-smilie:

Med Phys: regarding the latest email from the NSHCS, are people reading it as "Interview Successful" = we're definitely going to give you an offer somewhere ... ? Don't want to just be kidding myself!

That's how I am reading it but I emailed them earlier and they said the offers will be given (i.e location) sometime this week or next, a very vague response. I guess it all depends on how fast this algorithm is.

I want to think this too - think we'll hear anything else today? it's getting late :frown:

I'd be kinda surprised - I was surprised we heard anything after 5 at all?

Congratulations! Did you get notification via email or did it just appear on the portal?

Thanks!!! No email notification yet - I checked directly through pathway.

Hello,

Has anyone heard anything from microbiology yet?

This system is beyond frustrating!

Thanks for that! Good to know at least there is that possibility. As AMS1 said, it's harsh on people wanting the place that you don't want, but there seems to be no way round it. What a shame they don't ask you to specify whether you only want your three locations, or are happy to move anywhere.

Microbiology is next week, same as biochem. Says on the list anytime from April 23rd, but I'll be checking from Monday just in case!

I'll be looking to apply for the STP scheme. Looks like a great way to gain a Masters, whilst getting trained for a career that will hopefully provide a reassuring sense of job security

Security in the NHS? But it is getting a lot of cuts. It does not seem very secure and staff are being overworked.

It also says that initial offers will be out from w/c 14th April. I emailed and they said that highest scoring candidates will find out this week for micro. I hate the not knowing! It shouldn't take this long to add up 21 sets of scores!

Good luck with micro!!!
There are only 3 scores to add up for cytopathology, but apparently they are doing them in order of interview date.... Grrr!

Still think this system is far too confusing with the different status messages! It's like the whole Longlisted thing all over again :frown:

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear

Am I looking at the wrong thing for the dates? The list that I have from the NHS careers site states biochem and micro as being out week commencing April 23rd... Is there a new list?

Oh god, I hope not. I don't see why it takes longer to notify us, they only need to know if we passed or not

They have offered me a place. Have you heard back yet?
