Hi all!I've registered for the cardio physiology MSc at Newcastle uni but haven't heard anything about application bar the initial email to say they were reviewing all apps... Has anyone heard anything further?

Also euro hostel is fully booked where else is everyone staying?

Hi

Yeah I just decided today on the eurohostel as its fairly cheap and a good location.

What are your plans? What specialism are you?

Amy

I've booked somewhere through air b&b, as I was struggling to get into euro hostel.

I'm doing urodynamics, what about you?
Hi, I really want to apply for the STP this coming year. Just wondering if anyone on here is doing their training in Canterbury? That's where I want to do mine so fingers crossed. Any advice for applying? Thanks
Has anyone been able to log onto the live OLAT yet?

No, we need a code or something before we can, I thought we'd get given that at the thing, but apparently not.

I called NSHCS and they said we should be receiving OLAT codes via email this week. Taking their time as always!

Any one with a physics degree interested in developing a career in radiotherapy physics?? The STP is not the only route in - there is now the opportunity to achieve professional registration via an equivalence route where you submit a portfolio to show you have had equivalent training to someone completing the STP. Centres often advertise associate physics roles which can provide same level of training just a slightly different route (the back door rather than the front let’s say).
I am currently in year 13 and I am applying for universities at the moment and after graduating I wish to apply for the programme. I was just wondering what is the best degree to have to apply for this programme, i was looking at Biology, Biological Sciences, Medical Science or Biomedical Sciences? Can somebody please tell me which is most relevant so I can complete my UCAS application?

It depends what specialisms you're interested in. They're all relevant degrees for the training programme. I did Biomed at uni and got offers for both gastrointestinal physiology and cardiac science. Knowledge of the NHS and experience in your chosen area are also important. Hope that helps.

Are you sure this is a route to become a registered medical physicist? I've heard it's very uncommon and takes a LOT longer than the typical 3 years. I'm currently a trainee dosimetrist in radiotherapy physics which is a great alternative since my hopes and dreams were crushed by the STP scheme. I like my job but my career goal is still to become a medical physicist. Do you have any more info about this?

http://www.ahcs.ac.uk/equivalence/
Route 2 takes 6 years but this is a new separate route that only opened this year. STP trainees and Route 2 trainees get a certificate of attainment and this new route allows you to get a certificate of equivalence instead and HCPC accept this for state registration. The ahcs website explains it all.
I was a trainee dosimetrist in radiotherapy too and after getting an MSc in medical physics I have successfully had my application accepted to this route. I am now in the process of submitting a portfolio and then will have a viva so they can test my competence.

Are you me? Exact same situation. Not heard from trust, enrolled on uni course, registered on STP induction. I asked for a contact at my trust and emailed them but havent heard anything back after a week. Not really sure what to do, just emailed NSCHS again to ask them. Whereabouts is your trust/ what is your stream? I'm Audiology.

Hey I see you got on for the audiology programme, i'm looking to apply this year for the STP in audiology any tips??Iv heard its so competitive what are they looking for
Hi, Just wondering about the people who applied for the Clinical Biochemistry route of the STP and what sort of background/experience you have?
Also how did everyone find the tests?

Thanks a lot!

Hey, did you get your application in in time?
The new thread is http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2982347
and so far it seems like much fewer people have applied this year, or at least talked on TSR, which can only be a good thing!

I've done the tests now and they were not pretty. I spent 4 weeks on the application and did countless things to find out more about the stp but may not even get my application read now. Only time will tell.

Another "Interview Successful" here for medical physics, made the reserve list last year so I'm hoping this means I'll get a place offered!

I know it's been 3 years since your interview for Medical Physics, but I was wondering if you could give some hints at the interview questions asked?

Looking to apply and feel well and truly stranded when it comes to this part.

Thanks

Zoe
