Failing a module, what happens?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you fail a single module out of a full A level. Will you still get the award or will you have to resit and pass the failed module?
Even if the mark for that unit falls below the threshold to award a passing grade, any mark you do get will contribute to your total UMS mark and therefore to your grade. You do not have to achieve a pass grade in every unit.

All that matters is the total mark you get on the AS or A level, not what you score on individual units. In some A levels, It is possible to score 0 on a unit and still get an A* (e.g. in Maths, as long as you got at least 180 from C3 and C4, and 480 overall (out of 500 available from 5 units) you could score 0 in the 6th unit and get an A*.)

That is what I thought but I haven't been able to do confirm it in writing anywhere. Thanks.
