Speeding camera help!

I was driving down to Glasgow from Perth at the weekend, and the dual carriageway was 50mph limit. I was sitting at 55mph and got flashed by one of the speed cameras (a gatso camera I think?)

I'd heard that the flash was to warn you that the driver in front had been snapped speeding? Anybody know? :-(

The gatso flashes (twice) when it takes a picture. Was it behind you or infront when flashed?
