prom dress?

hi there!

Are there any ball-or prom-like events in the 1st term of the 1st year at cambridge???
I am wondering whether it is ok if I just bring smart clothes for formal halls, but no real prom dress.

There are loads of threads on this topic already, why not try the search function?

Anyway, some colleges have winter balls (I believe Fitz and Selwyn every other year) but other than that you won't be likely to need a ball gown.

if your college has a freshers formal then perhaps you could wear a nice dress under your gown? i'm really confused with dress codes anyway...there's no harm in bringing it i suppose, i quite liked looking at mine hanging up in my wardrobe :smile:

im taking a few, just in case. And if there isnt anything official, just have a dinner party where everyone dresses up fancy! Thats fun, because you get to waear the pretty dresses but you dont have to be all prim and proper all the time. :rolleyes:
