Laptop for Uni
I am attending University in September and I will be taking Computer Science so I will need quite a good laptop, it has to have a good processor, good memory and decent price. Just something that can handle everyday Uni life

Any recommendations?
Acer extensor 5235

Define "good processor", "decent price" and "everyday uni life". Like, how much are you willing to spend on a laptop and what exactly are you gonna use it for (games, movies, internet, essays, programming? etc.)

Actually recommended one to someone else earlier: this Acer Aspire should fit the bill. Its only £350, has 12GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive. It won't be the best for mid/high-end games, but should be able to run somethings well enough. For the price, you're not really going to find a gaming laptop though... basic gaming laptops start in the £600 bracket .

Hi!!
I am an architecture student and need to buy a new laptop soon. I work on softwares like CAD, Photoshop and also do 3D modelling and rendering.
Can you please suggest me which one to buy? As in what brand to go for? I can't afford a MAC book though. :frown:

You will need something with a decent amount of graphical processing power, you might want to look into gaming laptops.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I looked into the laptops and have shortlisted 4 laptops. They are:

Lenovo z50-70 http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-z50-70-15-6-laptop-white-10022700-pdt.html#srcid=11026

Asus x550ld http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/asus-x550ld-15-6-laptop-grey-10011040-pdt.html#cat-0

Hp Envy 15-j140na https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hp+envy+15-j140na&oq=hp+e&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i60l3.1671j0j1&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8

Please suggest which one to go for?

Thanks

I am not too experienced with laptops but, the HP one has a faster graphics processor than the other 3 but has an increased price tag.

The other 3 are around the same performance wise. So choose your budget then choose from the fitting category.

I must warn you, to get PC like performance from a laptop you will have to spend a lot more than that. But the choices you have made will perform significantly better than a normal laptop.

Hope i have been of help.
