I have to ask just because I don't know, but what is being dyspraxic?
Its a motor co ordination problem so basically anything physical is harder from me than normal

Mine is pretty mild but it causes me to
Be extremely clumsy- i ve horrendous spacial awareness so no sports, i cant swim or ride a bike well
I cant do joined up writing, in fact i only write less than 20 words a minutes - i dont actually hold a pen "properly"
(so exams were painful to say the least:P)
I struggle with doing basic things like make up and tying shoes laces occasionally
Being organised is pretty hard, its like your brains in a jumble
I get confused with left and right
and many other problems on top of the ones being dyslexic causes.

Only like 6% of people have it so meet plenty of people who ve never heard of it
When did you get diagnosed (if that's the right word!) with Dyslexia? My mum used to be a dyslexia specialist and all the tests she had to carry out were quite interesting, even if it did take her about 3 hours to assess a child!

I got told i had my dyspraxia at 9 but they never thought to test me for dyslexia or anything else at that time as they thought that was my main problem at the time so i actually only found out that i had dyslexia when i started uni at 18 so was a small shock really
Did you get any academic support at school then if they didn't know about the dyslexia?

Yeah, i saw a psychologist and the tests took all morning but have a 12 page report telling me all about my strengths and weaknesses now:smile:

Well as they knew i had dyspraxia, i got extra time in exams to make up for the slow writing but otherwise no support whatsoever throughout my whole school life as i wasnt behind in my subjects much so they didnt really appear to care about helping me
Ah cool  is your general knowledge good? I know quite a few my mum tested maybe had below average writing/reading but fantastic logic and general knowledge, although they were mostly infants.

Sorry for all the questions :P I just find dyslexia really interesting for some reason

i dont mind loads of questions:smile: apparently my general knowledge is very good, i actually love learning when i can do it in a way that works for me  but if i have to put something down on paper thats the worst part

I am 23 and have Dyspraxia, I think I have a hyperactive disorder as well.

I am great with spelling and reading, I do not have dyslexia, only Dyspraxia.

my question to you is - do you receive DLA? ( I do )

Nice to meet another dyspraxic:smile: I can spell and read reasonably its just the slow speed i do it at that makes me dyslexic, and of course my crappy memory.

No i dont, i get disabled students allowance. I wouldnt be able to claim dla i think

I m actually starting to train as a nurse in a few months so sticking needles in people, which is going to be an immense challenge

I wouldnt qualify as i dont need help on a daily basis and although i m clumsy my mobility is fine. Also since it'd be PIP as an adult i m confident i wouldnt get more than a point or 2

Do you feel like people treat you differently, better or worse, because you have dyslexia and dyspraxia?
How comes your spelling is perfect?

Because not every dyslexic has trouble spelling or if they do many learn ways round it

I find most people since me leaving school are either pretty understanding and so if they were to treat me differently its in a postive manner, however i have met people who arent sure how to act as some make the assumptions that every dyslexic/dyspraxic cant do certain things when thats so far from the truth

okay, whatsoever
I have Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia which has obviously affected my speech however at most I only have dyspraxic tendencies when it comes to the areas you struggle with so I'm just wondering if your speech has been affected at all or not?
