Why do people ask for "Live Pics"?

What's the main reason behind it?

Shouldn't be asking for pics full stop. The person behind the screen could be an old geezer posting a cleverly edited stock photo of a young woman...

But if they're asking to video call that's absolutely fine. Can't hide behind someone else's photo in a video :smile:

So they know they aren't fake, or overly edited, or use visual trickery e.g. great lighting and unnatural poses.

Oops...I gave one live pic to someone but I was luckily wearing shades.

What's a "Live Pic"?

Just don't show your face. Usually just sending a picture of your private parts will suffice.

On kik you can send a picture from your gallery or you can send a picture from camera.
And a picture from camera is referred to as a "Live Pic" because it's a picture of something at that very moment.
