Is sex supposed to be painful, sometimes?

I've been to the doctors once and everything was fine, apparently! Sex still hurts though, in certain positions and it doesn't seem as good as it's meant to be :frown:

I'm female by the way.

If everything is fine, then perhaps you're just nervous when you have sex? That can make the vagina tighter and thus sex more uncomfortable. Relax and you should be fine, and find some positions that work for you and are less painful :smile:

If it's just some general tightness causing the pain, then it should get better over time

Thanks so much for the advice, I appreciate it. I've been with this boy for over a year and we have had sex lots and I just keep hoping it'll get better... I don't feel unrelaxed? But yes different positions hurt more than others. Thanks again

It does hurt until you have done it loads it just kind of stops hurting. For me it probably stopped hurting like 30th time I did it with my boys and then like really deep positions were still uncomfortable :/ dw gal it's normal at first x

Ok yeah it hurt lots last night and that was the first time we've done it in months so maybe that's why as well. Ok thanks this is reassuring to hear from another girl!!

You might have vaginismus, an involuntary tightening of the vaginal muscles that usually happens more when you're tense. You could ask your doctor about this and they can refer you to a therapist. For now, making sure you're relaxed and using lube should help.
