1 A Level vs 1 Baccalaureate

My A Level French teacher said that in France, students have to take Baccalaureate with 11 subjects (I don't know if that was worded correctly) and with each one being individually as difficult as an A Level, meaning that it's way harder for them. Is this really true? I can't even imagine trying to do 11 A Levels...

Given the standard of students who make it to university (anyone who passes their Bacc can) I doubt this. The drop out rate at the end of the first year of university is enormous.
