What to study?

Hi! Im a 32 year old mum of 2 kids. Originally from another country but I've been living in the UK for 8 years. Im home for 4 years now with my kids and when o go back to work i don't wanna do what i did before. I was a working in a coffee shop. I guess my question is what can i study at an entry-level? Which doesn't require any previous knowledge. My English is not perfect either and im really antisocial. I appreciate any suggestions.

Hey Nikolette, have you any previous formal qualifications? Just trying to get a scope of what we're looking to doing. I'll start with the basics.

In the UK there are different levels of qualifications, the framework that these qualifications follow is called the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England and Northern Ireland, the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW), and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) in Scotland.

Here are the typical levels of qualifications:

Entry Level: Each level awards are Skills for Life, Functional Skills, and entry level certificates.

Level 1: Examples include GCSEs (grades 3-1 or D-G), Key Skills Level 1, and Music Grades 1, 2, and 3.

Level 2: Examples include GCSEs (grades 9-4 or A*-C), Intermediate apprenticeship, Key Skills Level 2, and Music Grades 4 and 5.

Level 3: Examples include A level, Advanced apprenticeship, International Baccalaureate, and Music Grades 6,7,8.

Level 4: Examples include Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE), Higher apprenticeship, and Higher National Certificate (HNC).

Level 5: Examples include Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE), Foundation degree, and Higher National Diploma (HND).

Level 6: Examples include Bachelor's degree (with or without honours), Graduate certificate, and Graduate diploma.

Level 7: Examples include Master's degree, Postgraduate certificate, and Postgraduate diploma.

Level 8: Examples include Doctorate (PhD), and Specialist awards.

There are core subjects which are required qualifications for UK students, so these might be a good starting point, these subjects are studied by all students at school and are usually examined at GCSE level. They include English, Mathematics, and Science.

If you have formal qualifications, you need to see where you stack up on the qualification ladder and go from there to make optimal use of your prexististing qualifications.
