medicine courses

any suggestions for medicine courses that arent that bothered about gcses and mainly focuses on a levels and personal statement?
Hey, you might find this page helpful (although you should check the websites of the unis for any recent changes): http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Applying_to_Medical_School_using_your_Strengths

Generally, unis tend to be either heavy on GCSEs or alternatively the UKCAT/BMAT, so if you have low GCSEs, you should work hard to get a good score in these. Good luck

You could resit GCSEs with A levels and get the grades up.

Medicine is really competitive so it's unlikely you'll find a uni that aren't bothered about GCSEs, unis need a way of filtering out students they see as unsuitable and one of the best ways they can do this is academic results.

All med schools have the AAA requirement or above for A-levels, but a few such as Cambridge place extra importance on AS results.

As mentioned above, it's really the UKCAT/ BMAT which helps those with lower GCSEs. Off the top of my head, you would be aiming to avoid Cardiff and probably Nottingham, but could have a shot at Newcastle/ Durham, maybe Plymouth.

Look at the individual med school sites for the most up-to-date information.
