Changed my mind about the residential lol, anyone else at castle on the 20th/21st? Particularly for Law?

Did you not apply there? That's really unusual because it's seriously popular. Maybe the other maths applicants had the same concerns. Having been to Durham, what I would say to you is that you can literally walk from one end of Durham to the other in about half an hour. Castle- the hill will be about 15 minutes walk tops. I wouldn't worry about the distance. Plus you'll be living out second year so just move closer. A lot of people would kill to get allocated there and you can't move anyway so I'd just try to look at the bright side! 😊

I did apply there and I'm very pleased that I got in, what you say is quite reassuring though, I just don't want it to be too far as it may be inconvenient for me. I'm sure it won't be a problem. I'll just check it out when I got there for the post-offer visit day!

Thank you! Unf there's nothing on the email inviting her to the visit day, and that's the only email she can find. Do you think they'll mind if she phones in the morning??

You don't need to phone. The link is http://www.durham.ac.uk/postofferinvite, go to the Durham City March events tab, log in, the pin will be at the very top of her offer email or any other recent email alongside the UCAS ID. complete the forms and the third one will reveal the college she's been allocated.
If that doesn't work, then just hang on until you get the official email from the college within the next few days. If she has an offer, it will be a very short wait, so it's really not worth phoning. Hope this helps

Huh?

Oh wait I said firm, I meant insure. I typed it carelessly.

Ah well, honestly, don't worry, Durham is a really small and compact city, so nothing is really far away unless you're on the hill and going to the education department or something because thats like one end of the city to the other. But Bailey to Hill, you'll be fine!

My course is sold out. Is there any other way to find out my college?

Sold out? I've not heard of that happening, are you sure you've done it properly? It's worked for everyone else I know and that was a bunch of different colleges! :s-smilie:

Apologies i was being stupid. I have been given my preferred college but isnt this just a visit day and not the actual college i have been allocated to?

No, if it shows up on the booking sheet, that is the college you've been allocated. Congratulations- looks like you got your first choice!
