Commuting to Loughborough University

I would like to go to Loughborough and live nearby. It is not ideal for me to move out and would prefer to commute. What mode of transport do you use, how much does it cost?

I'll move this to the L'Boro subforum :borat:

Also, you can use JourneyPrice (https://journeyprice.co.uk/) to calculate fuel costs if you're driving or the National Rail website to calculate the cost of a season ticket if you're going by train.

Hi EBris

Commuting from Leicester to Lboro is certainly do-able as we're not far away at all. If you're thinking of getting the train it only takes about 9 mins and I just had a look on East Midlands Trains https://www.buytickets.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk and if you have a railcard it's £3.95 off peak return. They probably offer a season ticket - you'd have to have a look.

Kinch buses also do packages for unlimted travel from Leicester to Loughborough which is £54 a month - more info here https://www.kinchbus.co.uk/student456

I wouldn't recommend driving as due to restricted parking spaces on campus, parking permits are not granted to first year students, or students who live close to the University. (Restrictions do not apply to students with disabilities.)

Hope this helps - worth doing a bit more research and then you can see what would work for you
