Physiotherapy to PE teacher?

Hi, I was researching online to find that it is possible to take a one year PGCE course to become a PE teacher if your undergraduate degree contained enough sport content. Has anybody done this or know if a physiotherapy degree is relevant enough to complete a PGCE course? Thanks.

Hey

Your best bet is to email universities and see if they would accept you based on your undergraduate degree. Most unis are very helpful and will let you know upfront either way, which is useful as you may find unis vary.

Do be aware that PE teaching is one of the few secondary subjects which is still quite competitive, and there is still a quota/cap in place. Most applicants will have experience sports coaching and working with young people, so you will probably need this to be competitive. But do talk to unis/providers direct, and I'm sure they will be able to advise.
