RAF intelligence analyst eligibility

Hi,

I am currently going through the RAF recruitment process as an Int Ant, and have passed my selection interview, medical and fitness tests and my next step is my specialist interview. I am a British citizen since birth and so is my father, however my Mother is an Irish citizen that has lived and worked in the UK for 20+ years and is married to my dad and has a mortgage and a good credit score (she is also eligible to become a British citizen but isn't sure if its necessary) . After doing lots of digging and research on the internet and speaking to my local AFCO i cannot get a definitive answer on whether my mums Citizenship is a problem. The recruiter i spoke to at my local AFCO said it shouldn't be a problem but she wasn't sure on the matter and it said it wasn't her expertise. My question is, does anyone have an idea on this matter or has anyone gone through a similar experience. Would be great to hear back from someone. Thanks
It’s doesn't preclude entry to the role however if during interview and subsequent vetting there are concerns regarding your clearance you may not be able to continue with Int An.

From reading your situation it sounds highly unlikely to have any impact.
AFAIK it's really not a problem. You are British and so is your father, unless your mother is a known IRA member or along those lines, it should be fine.

In fact, you can actually join the RAF as an Irish Republic National, so you should be fine.

Hi

The requirements are listed on the role page on the RAF Recruitment website. However, it will be looked into in details for your security vetting, so if there are any issues it will be flagged up and you'll be advised at that point. It won't stop your application continuing at present, so don't worry.

Kind regards
Adam
