Raf oasc

Good afternoon,

I have my RAF OASC selection day this coming Wednesday. I have been reading some past articles on here, and came across one that said candidates are no longer interviewed on current afairs, but only military presence round the world, RAF and specialisation knowledge. Is this true? I would really appreciate any other tips that would aid me in succeeding at the interview phase.

Many thanks!

Good morning,

Good luck and enjoy the day! Despite nerves, it's actually an enjoyable day! What role are you applying for?

You should have an understanding of current affairs and it would do you no harm to review this ahead of OASC.

Best of luck!

Hi there,

Thank you for responding. I am applying for WSO.

I have revised some key current affairs across the globe and within the UK also. I have further revised my knowledge on the RAF, it's core ethos, air power and its current presence round the globe.

What advice would you best offer for the teamwork and leadership exercises? Whilst I am confident in these, any further advice would be welcomed.

Thank you again!

No worries at all - good luck with the day and i'm sure you'll be fine! Preparing for the interview is great, but remember to be yourself too - don't 'over prepare'.

In regards to the teamwork / leader tasks - again, just be yourself! Be vocal. Accept that it may not go as you want, and don't be afraid to speak out if you're not sure how to get the result. Don't overthink the day or the tasks in hand. You can enjoy yourself!

Best of luck!

You go along with five different current affairs, (a mix of national and international), of your choice, and they will pick one of your five for you to talk about and grill you on.

[start]If you want to impress them, for heavens sake, pick subjects that they won't have had to listen to about 50 times previous from other candidates![/start]

Thank you very much. I think I'm starting to creep into the "over-prepared" section; trying to remember to many details that aren't necessarily relevant etc. Thank you very much again!

The temptation to keep on reading is there - realistically, you don't get an awful amount of time to answer the questions, it is very fast paced, and you will likely leave the interviewing feeling you barely said anything - or at least, got out half the information you had stored up to say.

Just relax, enjoy the interview and be yourself! That is as important to get across as well as your stats and facts.

Thank you very much, mate. I really appreciate what you've said. You've definitely eased my mind and have reinforced my confidence enormously. Thank you again!
