Life as an RAF engineering officer

I am considering taking an RAF STEM bursary to fund a materials science degree from Imperial College. I have three main questions. How high is the risk? How much choice do I get on overseas deployments? How would my employability be affected in the civilian world?

Thanks for your reply. I would like to be an aero systems engineer as it fits my interests more. I meant risk in terms of rates of loss of life or serious injury. I know it's fairly low but can't find any statistics so thought it's worth asking

Hi Surnia, just following up on my previous comment. would still be really interested to know more about my questions and your experience as an ex-AS engineer. Thanks
