Summer job or volunteer - which would enhance my uni application the most?

I am currently a year 12 student who has finished this years exams and with summer approaching I would like to do some stuff that would make my application to university more appealing. I'm looking to take psychology at university and wondering if it would be more beneficial to do get a summer job like that of retail or to volunteer to something that involves mental health. From volunteering, I can apply that link to the course and show that I have a passion for the subject. So what do you guys think a university would desire more?

The university would probably like you to have relevant volunteering experience, as it very clearly demonstrates a passion for their course and what you want to achieve. However, if you write your personal statement well enough an 'unrelated' summer job can also be very useful: you can talk about how it's taught you to be responsible/independent/communication skills etc. (make it a lot less cliche though!).
