It very much depends on the city.

Halls is normally like 10% more expensive then the average going rate for student accommodation in the city in a house.

Most people only live in Halls for 1 year, but then their are some unis like Loughborough where people live in halls for all 3 years. Probably best to ask this in a specific uni thread.

Hey @laila777!

It really depends on the location and what type of halls you go for. For example, newer buildings that are en-suites will be more expensive than an older building with a shared bathroom, or whether it is catered or non-career etc. Prices here in Portsmouth range from about £99 to £160 per week. I'd recommend checking out the website of the university you are looking at and checking out their prices. :smile:

Most students spend their first year in halls and then move in with friends into a student house. There are usually some opportunities to stay in halls in your second/third year but not that many students do it, as student houses are usually significantly cheaper and you get to live with your friends. :smile:
