Does it matter where you study architecture?

Hello, hope you're all well.

I want to apply for architecture for 2021 entry. This September I'll be starting a foundation engineering course at university of Birmingham and then using my foundation year to get on to an architecture course.

My parents want me to stay at home that means applying to local universities (BCU and Coventry). I have the grades to get into a better uni so I don't want to settle for these universities. I've visited both of them and wasn't a massive fan of either. Does what uni you go to really matter? I'd assume they have better links with industry and what not.

Hope I'm not coming across as a snob, have nothing against polys/new unis. I just don't like the ones near me. Any stats or anecdotes I can throw at my parents to persuade them let me flee the nest? I know I'm an adult and technically I can just move but I'm Asian and sadly it's a bit more complicated.

Thanks for reading xx
