Escape Studios: Questions about 2022 Storyboarding and Previs MA

Hello!

Sorry, I hope this is the right place to ask, but I have several questions about the Escape Studios Storyboarding and Previs Masters.

I'm graduating from an Animation course this month, so I'm looking into Masters but covid is making things difficult.
This course really caught my eye and I'm looking into applying for next year, so if the 2022 start is still gonna be in June like this year's, then a June 2022 start haha.

I guess I'll just list off all my concerns:

1. Is there a possibility that the 2022 course will also have an online option? You have no idea how much of a relief it was to read that this uni does this, I'm so worried about losing my pre-settled status over the summer or scraping by enough money for London accommodation that an online version sounds like a dream! Please, I know it still isn't confirmed, but any bit of info on if this will continue into next year as well would be super helpful!

2. So far I've read that the fee for UK and EU people is the same. Would this still apply in 2022? Especially after I potentially lose my pre-settled for staying at home?

3. Is the course more 2D or 3D leaning? If both, can we choose what to specialise in? I do have a slight fear of the material being watered down if it's focusing on too many things, so I'm mostly wondering if for example I were to specialise in 2D storyboarding, I'd get more focused lessons on that aspect.

4. Is there anywhere I can read opinions or get in touch with grads? I know this course is super new, so just maybe a talk with someone who's currently graduating would be super helpful!

5. Is the Masters diploma we receive legit? Stupid question, I know, but I'm mostly asking because I know there's a deal going on with Kent Uni to provide those diplomas, and that sounds a bit wierd. Would our CV say Kent University or Escape Studios afterwards?

This is just the main stuff off the top of my head. Any answers or tips at all would be super appreciated! Thank you!!!
Hi @GreenSpy!

My name is Rohnak and I have just completed my first year of animation at Escape Studios. I can answer some of your questions but since I'm just an undergrad student, I'd strongly recommend emailing our postgraduate enquiries email: [email protected], who I'm sure will be able to answer your course-specific questions! I'll give the team a heads-up about your queries. Alternatively you can call +44 (0)203 944 8529 or fill out our enquiry form if you prefer.

I can help with the last two questions though! Our Alumni page has the opinions of Escape Studios grads, so please do take a look. As for the diploma, the University of Kent is what is known as the "validating partner" of the course, so while your course is designed by Escape Studios and their industry partners such as DNEG and Framestore, and taught by our tutors, the diploma itself would come from the University of Kent as currently, Escape Studios cannot award such qualifications on its own. On your CV, or any form asking for your place of education you would still put Escape Studios or Pearson College London, and it is still "legit" and a valid qualification from a well-respected institution in the UK's creative industry.

My biggest recommendation would be to take a look at our Postgraduate Open Events and Taster Days, which are probably the best way to find out if Escape is right for you.

I'd be happy to answer any more questions you have in the meantime.
