Can I still get into joint honours if I don’t meet the grade requirements? I

I basically messed up one essay, one time in my first semester of English lit. (I study English lit and french in 2nd year, I want to progress to doing joint honours in those subjects). Apparently I can’t resit as my grades have to be from the first sitting. I needed a C3 in English lit but I got a D1 in first semester. I emailed my arts faculty and they said that I could still get into joint honours but I’ll find out in June. Im freaking out a bit because if I don’t get in I don’t know what I’ll do. Sorry for the rambling and excessive detail lol. I guess I’m wondering how likely it is that I’ll still get in?

(I go to Glasgow uni btw)
