Hi, I'm in Year 13 and have nearly finished my T-Level course!

T-Levels are an excellent qualification, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to reply here or drop me a message.

How are you finding the Occupational specialism as there seems to be some issues at my school when it comes to the work load as well as knowledge of the students.

As it’s the first two years of the course being taught, the layout of teaching could of been better - there is a bit I’ve had to self learn, as there isn’t enough time. Are you in year 13? But currently I’m doing my year 13 project (for my final grade) and it’s really good, you get internet access. The only thing you can’t do is copy, or use communication tools.
Hey! I’m in Year 11 currently and I have been really intrigued on Digital T Levels. But my only question is how does the work placement work? Do you go in once a week at an allocated tech company local to you? Or do you have to look around with the school/college’s help? Thanks

Hi, I’m currently undergoing placement 80% completed! Usually your college will have employers which have reached out to get a student in. I believe they’re paid £1,000 to take you on - so there’s no shortage in employers which would want you.

I do IT at a marketing company, but I know some people who have worked in SEO, some for the council, and many other positions for work placement.

It’s great!
That all sounds great! Thank you very much! Can’t wait for next year

I’m currently doing my final year 13 exams as well, if you have any info which would definitely set you up for digital t-level, feel free to pm me
Will do! Really appreciate it! So are the exams at the end of Year 13 only? As I’ve heard it’s like 70% coursework 20% Work placement and 10% exams?

There are exams in year 12 which count towards your final grade. For year 12 I got an A, it was really easy.

And yeah that sounds about right. I do work placement 2 days a week
Sounds promising, thank you so much. I have arranged a meeting during half term with the school I’m planning to do this T Level so hopefully I would be able to get an idea also on where past students have had work placements at 😁

Yeah, it’s a great course, absolutely no regrets. And the one course is worth three a-levels.

So if you get a distinction that’s 144 UCAS points. And there’s tons of opportunities for placement, I’d recommend going with government (I didn’t get to) but it is a great insight!
Yup! It’s very worth it especially since it’s worth 3 A Levels whilst also getting work experience. And hopefully the exams as you said aren’t as hard so it’s a Win!

I’d definitely try her an Goverment placement but otherwise there is a business park very local to me that has numerous tech software companies which could be an option?

Absolutely, everyone gets a placement as it’s your placement organisers responsibility at college.

And the exams really aren’t hard. For year 13 you will create a solution for a website using php, django or slack. I’m using django
Nice, would you still recommend this course even though I don’t have too much coding knowledge? I’ve been taken Media Studies for GCSEs (although I recognise now it would have been better to do computer science) but I have been excelling on top of my class. But if it’s heavily coding required then I’m not sure.

You start straight from scratch. I had some knowledge of Python prior so it helped a bit, but you will have the same chances as everyone else.
Good to know, thank you! I will try practise some coding though.

Basic Python to start with. Then learn Python frameworks like slack or django

Hi,

I'm in the first year of T-level and will have ESP and exams shortly. How did you manage the exams? Is there any resit for the ESP?
Is this qualification helpful when you try to find a Uni or Apprenticeship placement? Because some of them are requiring A Level Maths in addition to T-Levels.

Hi, I’m happy to answer all questions you have

In Year 12 it was relatively easy I received a Distinction (an A) overall. It is important that you do well as it dictates your overall course grade, as it’s an official grade. This qualification has been amazing! Absolutely no regrets, I’ve been successful in my applications to university with no issues, and there a few not accepting them (but it’s still a new qualification, in a years time I’m sure you’ll have no issues). At university I will be studying Cyber Security and got a Full Offer. On work placement I was offered a full time job at £10/hr (a marketing IT Company). And for my age which is 17, that’s decent.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask, I have one exam left for my final occupational specialism project, and I’m finished with college. I’m expected to get a Distinction.
