Citations

I have recently received feedback on one of my assignments and was given feedback regarding my citations. As part of the brief, it states I should cite all relevant information. At the end of a paragraph I cite where I got the information and placed the citation after the full stop. This is how I have done it for the past 10 assignments with no issue but I’m not told it should be within the sentence. Can someone please explain this.
The paragraphs don’t have any quotes or paraphrasing.

Hm, I do what you do. Even word automatically cites at the word, not after the paragraph.
Cite it directly within the sentence.

blahblahblah-FACT- (Factman, 2022) blah blah blah... Where 'Factman, 2022' corresponds to a complete source entry (book page/webpage/journal etc) in your references section.

Both my College and Uni allowed a slightly haphazard approach at first, then got stricter about it.
