Honestly campus during the days tend to vary sometimes they look empty and other times it'll be packed. You'll notice during coursework season the library is rammed and suddenly people actually show up to lectures.

But when students arent in-person, they rarely hang out on campus, most people just chill in their house or round one of their mates.

Hi @14t,

Following on from @mnot 's post. I would say this varies a lot! There are day's including the weekend when the campus is significantly quieter.

From my 3 years of experience at the university, a quiet campus is reasonably unusual, the student's union usually has arranged some event or market stall on areas of the red brick most days of the week. As well as other societies often having events and sales going on.

Usually around midday and lunchtime the campus is significantly busier, as with all the catering outlets.

From personal experience I would say the library and study spaces vary a lot in how busy they are, during exam and coursework submission deadlines, they can be packed and vice versa at the start of term can be much quieter. I presume this is replicated across most universities and education institutions, at least in my experience.

I hope this helps. If you are worried about the campus being deserted, this is not how I've seen it. Obviously, every university experience is what you make it. However, personally, I am on either Highfield or Avenue campus pretty much every week day. And am always making efforts to meet, chat, study and socialize with friends on campus!

If you have any other questions I'd be more than happy to answer them

All the best.

Hi @14t
The campus does tend to be a bit quieter during the day as people are usually in lectures, the library or working at home. It is also assignment and dissertation period at the moment so the uni tends to be extra quiet at this time whereas the library and other study spaces will be very busy.

However, I find that the uni is usually very lively. It depends on when you go. Usually, early in the morning or later in the day it'll be a bit quieter. The evenings and lunchtime is when the uni campus comes alive. The uni pub or SUSU (our students' Union) may have an event on, the uni cinema may be showing a film or people may be engaging in society activities.

As well as this, it is much busier during the summer months as more people tend to socialise and hang out on campus during the day rather than inside buildings, the city center or at home. Highfield campus is a great place during the summer because there are loads of picnic benches, the stream, green areas and the lovely Valley Gardens that become very lively when it's warm.

I hope this adds some more context to what the campus is usually like on a typical day but if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask them below!
