Has medicine turned out like you thought it would?

Does anyone have any regrets after joining med?
Hi there,

I personally have no regrets! I absolutely adore medical school and I am so happy in the university I am in. I think that for alot of people you work so hard to get to medical school and then you expect to be seeing patients immediately. While that is true in some universities including my own where we go on GP placement early in Y1, it is not true for all unis.
Medical school is hard and it's academically challenging but it is so rewarding, you will make friends for life and I am sure you would enjoy it just as much as you think you will.

Good luck,

Regret is a strong word but the pandemic certainly was a wild ride. Working through the aftermath is actually way harder than working during the early waves and lockdowns!

I don't find my work especially enjoyable or fulfilling at present. Primary care is ****ed and whilst I don't regret becoming a doctor I wouldn't choose my specialty again, especially in a post-pandemic world.
