MChem or law?

Hello. So my situation is that I got CDD in my a levels due to very severe mitigating circumstances which I can prove with doctors letters. I want a career in law or the civil service. I’m on an MChem course but want to switch to Law LLB at a relatively good uni bc I struggle with phys chem. I did well in my first year , however second year is harder . My point is, if I want to be a barrister or civil servant , is it better to finish my MChem with a 2:1/2:2 and then do law conversion, or to do LLB and get a first ? I also got 12A*s in my gcses if this is relevant. Another question; will my a levels hold me back for this type of job even with very good mitigating circumstances ? Thanks in advance
