Gaining QTLS status

I am finishing off my PGCE ( funtional skills maths) this year and now want to do my QTLS...

Been told I need a level 3 qual in maths to teach maths.

I have a degree in accounting and finance will this suffice???

I hold A level 3 in science do I now need to switch to teaching science to gain my QTLS

Or do I now have to do A LEVEL maths

Hi @Sophjsh

It really depends on the requirements of the QTLS provider.

But it is worth asking about your degree as it will have aspects of Maths in it.

Sometimes providers will ask you to do a Skills Enhancement Course. This will usually be an online course lasting between 8-12 weeks and it will essentially bring you up to the desired level of knowledge, in your case it will be Mathmatics.

This would definitely be much better than having to do an A Level in Maths!

Wishing you all the best:smile:
