Isostatic sea level change help

hi <3
Can somebody help me with isostatic sea level change?
I know that
- when the height of the land increases the sea level locally decreases and visa versa
but i dont understand how
wouldn't high land make less room for the sea and therefore increase the sea level? like if you put your hand in a cup of water the water rises
any help appreciated

I'm not sure if this will make sense but I'll try my best. so basically although the height of the land is increasing, there isn't a change in the mass or amount of land it is just lifting upwards, kinda like a seesaw. when you put your hand in a cup you displace the water bc you are occupying more space. hope that helped!!
