What can you make out of an art foundation degree?

My parents believe that there is nothing you can do in an art degree and all you can become is an art teacher.
what can i do after i do my foundation art degree?
Do you mean a 2 year FdA foundation degree? Or a 1 year art foundation diploma (FAD)? Or a 4 year BA with foundation year?

What discipline of art are you considering? The options are very different for fine art v commercial photography v graphic design v illustration v textile design etc etc

Sorry to hear that your parents don't see the potential and breadth of creative careers!

The creative sector is the fastest-growing part of the UK economy, contributing £111.7 billion each year. A government report published in 2016 shows the creative sector is worth a massive £9.6million per hour with data proving the trend is set to continue.

This is a really good website that I would recommend showing your parents, but also looking through yourself to get a feel of where you would like to specialise - https://discovercreative.careers/

I am sure that you parents just want you to be safe and successful, so I would recommend coming to them with a well researched plan of what your next steps will be and where you want to go.

I had exactly the same discussion with my parents when I was younger and I remember how frustrated I felt. If you're passionate about what you do and are willing to work hard - I am sure you're career will soar.

Good luck!

Whatever you do, make sure you are not studying any discipline that can be easily replaced with AI. AI is coming to make people silly or weak enough to specialise in rubbish fields obsolete. I am talking about disciplines such as Chocolate Appreciation, and the study of the art made by a civilisation at a very specific period in time, for example, the study of art in Italy in the decade just before Mount Vesuvius erupted. Like, who gives a FFFFF!!!!! And I am meant to somehow accord the same respect to that degree as I do to my engineering degree? That ish is DONE and OVER with, THANK GOODNESS!!!

Please, don't be one of such people made useless. A word, they say, is enough.
