Hi guys,
I'm in the process of choosing to do an english PhD at UCL or St Andrews and I could really use some advice. I didn't manage to win AHRC funding at either though I was awarded a tuition fee scholarship at St Andrews. However, I live in London so could save on rent by going to UCL (ie makes more financial sense to stay in London). I'm wondering if it still looks good on a CV for future postdoc applications to say I've been awarded that scholarship? Or if SGSAH might be less competitive than LAHP in general, if I were to try again next round?
How important would you guys say AHRC funding is for an academic career, anyway?
Thanks guys would really appreciate any thoughts on this.
