Reading Materials for Psychology

I’ve just accepted an Access To Higher Education course in Health and Social Care, with the goal of studying Psychology at University. Are there any reading materials or papers that anyone would recommend reading in advance of my course to further my knowledge?
Hi Daisy,

Congratulations on accepting your course.

Depending on what psychology degree you want to do, and where you want to go with it after university, can depend on the recommendations for reading. Each university will have its own reading list. I have just completed my first year studying Psychology BSc at Bournemouth. However there are other degrees with counselling, or forensic psychology which you can choose.

Personally I have the following books which I have found very useful this year.

* Gross Psychology
* Gross Themes issues and debates in Psychology
* Palgrave Study Skills : Studying psychology second edition

As I have an interest in going into counselling/ psychotherapy after my degree, I have the following non fiction books that I have either read or intend on reading as a supplemental throughout my studies.

With the end in Mind, How to live and die well, by Kathryn Mannix
The Devil You Know by Gwen Adshead, Eileen Horne
Humankind, a hopeful history by Rutger Bregman
When Breath Becomes Air, Paul Kalanithi

I hope this helps :h:
