Welsh speaking applicant (Medicine)

Hi, I’m applying to Cardiff for medicine 2024 entry this October. It’s clear Cardiff values the Welsh language but how much exactly will fluency boost my application? As it’s a competitive course, has anyone who speaks Welsh applied and still been rejected?
I’m also worried if they don’t read my PS initially they won’t even realise I’m fluent, hopefully they will notice my GCSEs in Welsh Lang/Lit on my UCAS form. Also- how do I apply for the bursary scheme available for studying in Welsh/ even applying to study in Welsh in the first place?

Firstly, it's so great that you're interested in studying medicine at Cardiff uni! I'm not fluent in Welsh so I feel like I can't give you the best advice beyond reassuring you that Cardiff greatly values the Welsh language and offer many of its services in Welsh.

Regarding how fluency may boost your application and for support on funding and bursaries, you should be able to get more advice by contacting the university here.
