Hi there! Clodien House is quite good for medicine as it is the closest to Heath Campus 🙂 As a medicine student, most of your lectures and studies will be situated there. I did have friends who took medicine and lived in Talybont in first year, they were closer to some things such as the student union and sports facilities, but did take the bus/walk a bit further to get to their lectures. I would say where you live doesn't really impact your social life. Yes flatmates are a part of it, but lots of people make friends from going to societies, from their course, from night outs etc. So really, it just depends what you don't mind travelling a bit further for!

Hiya!

That's a great question! So basically, when you apply for your accommodation on the portal, for Talybont North, there's an option to choose a 'quiet living' flat. Its the same flat as any other flats in Taly North, but everyone in the flat will have ticked off 'quiet living' when they applied, which means there's kind of a mutual agreement to keep a quiet living environment. This might mean no parties, no loud noises after a certain amount of time, things like that!

I think honestly, student life here is good! I've found it really inclusive, no matter what your interests are. I do think as a student, you do have to put yourself out there a little to make friends, to start an initial connection, but after that, there's honestly no pressure to do or act a certain way to make friends! There's a lot of societies out there that does pretty relaxed events, some where its not too much extroverted socialising - where you're just doing a hobby around other people, such as art or crochet society, for example. Do you have any current hobbies you'd like to continue on to uni, out of curiosity?

Ah that's really cool to hear!

Art Society is honestly really fun, they're a pretty chill society. They hold different themed quite regularly, of doing different art activities. I think its quite nice, since you can quite easily choose to talk to others, or choose to focus on your own work. I recommend coming to a Give It A Go event - everyone would be new to society so its a nice way to try societies out.

Islamic Society is lovely too! I partake in that occasionally, and everyone is so lovely. They're really active and are always holding events. They're very active during Freshers Week, and hold events like meet and greet, halal social events to help you get settled into uni and make friends!

If you'd like/haven't already, I can send you more information about the societies, if you want to know what to expect from them?

Yes pls:smile:

Awesome!

So Art Society's SU page is here, and Islamic Society's SU page is here! They both have the social medias linked to the SU pages, which can be quite helpful if you wanted to see specifically what kind of events each society hosts
