I got a fine for cycling in pedestrian only zone

Hello everyone,

Today will cycling through the town center a member from the borough council stopped me and fined me £75 pounds for cycling in a pedestrian only zone. I gave him my details and told him I was genuinely unaware of the laws that I can not cycle in the pedestrian only zone because I never saw the sign. I appealed the alleged offense, because I am an international student here in the UK for only 7 months now.

What should I do if they refuse my appeal and make me pay the £75 fine? I won't be able to afford that much because I am a student. Please help me out.

Go back to where you were cycling and locate the signs indicating that it’s a pedestrian only zone. If they are in any way hidden by tree branches or similar things which might prevent them from being clearly visible photograph them and attach the photos to your appeal. If they are perfectly visible, then you won’t have any excuse and will have to pay up. International or not, if you ride a bike you have to know the Highway Code.
