Bus lane Q

I accidentally drove past the “No entry, except buses & cycles” sign when the bus lane begins (twice) as I got lost in town centre today. Anyways I got caught by camera so just waiting for the letter to come but what I’m wondering about is if I’ll get the points as well as theoretically I should get just the fine for driving on a he bus lane but there was “no entry” sign as well so failing to comply with it is three points. However someone told me that u can only get points when pulled over by the police for missing that sign, if it’s just the fine that comes by the post cus of that bus lane camera than it’s just the fine to pay from the council for driving on the bus lane and they cannot give u any points, is that true ?
