UCLAN - Law - Possibly Roeburn Hall

I have been offered a place at UCLAN to study Law in September and I am thinking about booking Uni Halls maybe Roeburn Hall for the ensuite.

Any top tips about being a student at UCLAN, is Freshers week worth it if you don’t drink and aren’t into clubbing, studying Law at UCLAN, accommodation particularly Roeburn Hall (assume all the beds are singles and would I be living with all first years)? Does Preston feel relatively safe at night? etc etc

Also wondering about move in days or slots, do I need to buy any books (or when will I find out about this), or do any reading over summer or find out my timetable?
Thanks

Hi there,

Congrats on your offer and we can't wait to welcome you to our campus! As you may have already known, all bedrooms at Roeburn Hall are en-suite, so Roeburn will definitely be your best choice if you want more personal space. Here is an introduction to Roeburn Hall on our website that is worth looking at: Roeburn Hall If you have any requirement or question about your potential roommates, you can always get in touch with our accommodation team via [email protected]

In terms of freshers week, there is no pressure to drink and even if you want to go to pubs with a group of newly made friends, there are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks to choose from (Personally I think mocktails are the best!). Just think of it as a good opportunity to socialise and possibly meet other students with similar personality and interests. I still keep in touch and sometimes hang out with some of the people I met from freshers week even though they are not from my course. You never know what is waiting for you at freshers week and I would highly recommend you to get involved!

As for the safety in Preston at night, I would say it is safe, just take a usual common sense approach of staying on the main roads instead of going into small alleys/darker areas etc by yourself. Besides, we've got 24/7 security on campus which is a reassurance and a safety app where you can log any issues.

Hope you find this helpful,
Sophia:smile:
