Hi, do all students have a timetable which means they'll be onsite Monday to Friday 9 to 4pm with free periods inbetween those hours, or do some timetables mean an early finish or later start?

Both - your school timetable have free periods which is your time. You are expected to go to your time tabled sessions
If you have a session on period 3, with no other time tabled sessions, you can go home or stay at school to study. It is up to you
