Universities for law with ABB offers

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any decent law universities I can apply to with predicted ABB. I am also doing an EPQ and have got an A in Core Maths. I would like to go to a university that has a somewhat good reputation in law, and I don't want to be disadvantaged in the future when looking for a job, just because of where I went to uni.

So far I am thinking of applying for the Royal Holloway and UEA, and I have found Sussex, Bournemouth, Reading, Northumbria, Lancaster, Kent, Leicster and Surry which all have offers of AAB to BBB.
Are any of these universities any good? And can anyone recommend any others I can look at?
Thanks

Hi there,

Thank you for your question.

As a law student myself, I would definitely recommend Lancaster. We were also placed at number 1 for graduate prospects for Law by the Complete University Guide 2021. From my experience, Lancaster Law school is very renowned and reputable.

However, it is also important to choose a University that you think best suits what you are looking for. Having a look at league tables for Law will surely help. I have added some links below but feel free to contact our law school ([email protected]) if you have any further questions!

Hope this helps

I'm glad to hear, it's sometimes hard to gauge how good a university is just by looking at the rankings but it definitely helps when you hear these things from a student so thank you!

Hi Myarv,

I know this is a little later down the line, but I can see you're doing your A-levels and thinking of a Law degree (I would assume for September 2024).

Firstly, it's great to think you may be achieving AAB to BBB results, but do remember to be realistic in your applications, don't get ahead of yourself and equally do not be disappointed if you do not obtain these results on results day. There are a lot of institutions that plan for these eventualities (even if they don't advertise it) and whilst they may offer you study on a 'BBB' or 'ABB' they sometimes have 'hidden' grade drops closer to the result release dates, and may still make you an offer even if you don't quite hit their entry requirements. I know you didn't ask about this, but I hope this gives you some confidence in applying for institutions you're interested in rather than what their initial 'entry requirements' look on the outside; this isn't to say you will get an offer for everywhere but I hope this is more reassuring when you make your UCAS application in to not limiting yourself on where to go!

I have heard some good things about LLB degrees at Royal Holloway and equally UEA. I have also heard some good things about institutions such as The University of Law, who I see isn't currently on your option list! ULaw has a very good rooted history in the legal sector and providing law degrees, and I can attest to their level of teaching and professionalism with resources, course content, marking and feedback.

ULaw also offers some great progression opportunities (and Alumni Discounts) on future programmes such as the SQE or BPC (depending if you want to be a solicitor or barrister, respectively). They also offer various 'combined' law degrees now, i.e. Law with Criminology, or Law with Business etc, so if you have an interest in these areas as well that could be worth a shot at looking into. I'll post some links below for you too, from what I can see on their website now.

I would also speak to ULaw's employability team with outreach to some of the law firms they work with (90 of the top 100 UK law firms) with respect to various employment opportunities (i.e. Bro Pono, QWE etc).

It may be worth reaching out to their team if you have any specific questions as well! [email protected] (found on their website for you).

Good luck in your A-levels, and don't forget to keep your expectations realistic with you results on the day, don't panic you'll find something!
