how to become a corporate barrister

i know after getting an LLB at university, you need to do the BCAT exam and pass it, then enrol into one of the inns of court, and then do a barrister course at a university that offers it, then finally you are called up to the bar and become a self employed barrister

is this the normal path to become a corporate barrister? can i apply to central london law firms that do corporate practices and work as a corporate barrister after getting called up to the bar or am i limited to self employed barrister work only
