Hi.

I’m currently doing my SCITT training along with a PGCE. However, I want to drop the PGCE but carry on with the SCITT. Will I lose my maintenance loan if I drop the PGCE element but carry on with the SCITT??

Hello @LTilbury98

As you've probably realised, the QTS element of the Teacher Training course is the practical part, where you are assessed against the Teachers Standards, and the PGCE is the academic study of pedagogy. It is for the former part of the course that you are receiving the funding (The QTS) and so dropping the PGCE element ought not affect your funding. However, you need to check in with SfE on this.

Wishing you all the best on your course, Jane
