Top five Uni's for English Literature

Which is a better Uni to study English Literature? Warwick, Durham or UCL? In terms or academic excellence alone.

Take a look at the modules and see which you prefer - they might vary drastically between unis, they're all highly respected so focus on which you think would suit you best, also keep in mind that being in London would be a very different environment to being at Warwick or Durham
UCL I think by a fair margin if you don't mind living in London. The English department there runs tutorial formats more closely aligned to that at Oxbridge and is quite broad ranging in their content (like Oxbridge also). They also have a great depth of research and also notably offer both Old and Middle English (and their associated texts). Durham is also quite good I think though.

Warwick isn't especially well known for English - their flagship courses are maths, the business school courses, CS and economics.

If you're interested in strong English departments outside of London (and Oxbridge), you may want to look into Nottingham and York :smile:
