transferring universities

My first semester at uni (OBU) wasn't good and I'm deciding if I should transfer. I'm doing English and creative writing and I am undecided on what unis I should look at, but I'm thinking either Falmouth or Kent. I'd like to have an option to study abroad or do a placement year. I didn't do very well in my ALevels (BCC) too. Does anyone have any advice on what unis I could look at and if Falmouth or Kent are good options? Thanks!

Have you looked at Bath Spa?

Do you have any thoughts about what you want to do after graduation?

hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy at OBU! I'd recommend trying to chat through your struggles and your options with your tutor. If you're set on transferring, I'd recommend thinking about your progress after university (Prospects is great for this), as well as considering financial costs. I think that transferring is easier to get into a university to do your research and don't be afraid to ask.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for getting in touch, and we're really sorry to hear that your first semester at Oxford Brookes wasn’t what you had hoped for. We understand how overwhelming the first semester can be, and we’re always here to offer some advice.

By now, you may have already made your decision, but if you're still exploring your options, I recommend reaching out directly to the universities you’re considering. They can provide the most up-to-date information about their placement and study abroad opportunities, as well as any specific entry requirements they may have.

If you haven’t transferred yet and are still considering your options, it’s also worth considering what Oxford Brookes has to offer. We have a fantastic study abroad scheme that allows you to explore a new country, experience different cultures, and discover new aspects of yourself. It’s a wonderful opportunity to grow personally and professionally, and it can really help you stand out in the future!

Whatever you decide, I hope this advice is helpful, and I wish you the best of luck with your studies 😊

Best wishes,

Clare
