Hi there, congratulations on your offer to study here at ARU! Here’s some advice regarding studying optometry and university life:

Optometry course:

Understand the curriculum- get acquainted with the organisation of the curriculum, topics, clinical placements.

Stay up to date with the most recent research and advancements in optometry.

Anticipate a large amount of lab work and practical skills.

Interviews:

Practice common questions- Like why you want to study optometry, your understanding of the profession, and your approach to patient care situations.

Demonstrate enthusiasm- express your passion for the field, highlighting any experiences that stood out to you or extracurricular involvements.

Maintain professionalism- Dress suitably and uphold a professional demeanour through the interview.

Uni life:

Disregarding which aru campus you have applied to, the uni life across all campuses are enriched with activity and there are always things to do. The wide range of societies ensures something for you. As well as a range of bars and clubs, there is almost a student night everyday.

I am at the Cambridge Campus and love the wide range of things to do, from punting to clubbing!

I hope this helps and good luck!
