Once you are a qualified nurse, you will be able to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It is important throughout your studies and once you are qualified that you keep up to date with the NMC and their most recent regulations.
The NMC is the independent regulator for nurses and midwives in the UK, and nursing associates in England. Their vision is safe, effective, and kind nursing and midwifery practice for everyone. They set and review standards for their education, training, conduct, and performance. The NMC has been a statutory body since 2002, with a stated aim to protect the health and well-being of the public.
Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the NMC, its purpose and standards in your personal statement and interview for nursing will show the interviewer that you have prepared yourself for the degree by fully informing yourself of regulations and professionalism.
