not sure on what to do

i'm currently in Year 12, and I have been interested in going into Journalism since Year 10, and I've completed quite a bit of work experience because I was planning on applying for a BBC Journalism Level 5 apprenticeship. However, I really want to get into International Relations and Politics, and I feel that if I do the apprenticeship and not a degree, I'll never get to that position because of how competitive the industry is. Would it be worth it for me to go to university and get a degree in intentional relations, and then go and complete the more advanced apprenticeship offered by The BBC (Level 7)? I've emailed The BBC but they weren't very helpful in advising me. I'm also worried about going to university and being stuck in debt or struggling with money, whereas with the apprenticeship I'll get a salary.

Hi, what kind of work experience have you done? I’m in Year 10 and am looking for work experience (I’m interested in journalism too.)

Hi! Sorry I've been logged out few a few months and didn't get a notification on this! I've just completed a three week long work experience in my local MP/Mayor's office working with many different teams in his constituency, such as employment and skills, press teams and equality officers. Don't be afraid to email your local MPs and councillors, they are more than happy to have somebody shadow them / contrbute to their research! Also, I did some experience writing online articles and blogs which i could develop into a portfolio. Im definitely applying to Uni first then journalism, as I think it will be easier to progress and go into international journalism which is my dream, but if you need any help you can always message me!

To hop back on this discussion, I've applied to uni for international relations and will also be applying to the apprenticeship for a second option, but Im leaning more towards uni!
