restarting MA KCL

Due to my personal life I did **** in my first semester and retrospectively should've taken a gap year.

I can't meet my career aspirations with the grades I've received so am hoping to restart next year. I emailed my personal tutor and am waiting for a response but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this process. Can I restart the course without reapplying to the uni?

The thing I want to know in particular is because I've paid half my MA fee for my first semester will that carry over to next year if im able to restart or will i have to pay the fee in full?

i self funded btw I didn't take out a loan
