Well, I wouldn't start a business right out of school with no support.

I have seen people as young as 7 become millionaires and own their own businesses. Whilst these are exceptions to the rule, it does show that it's possible.

What I would strongly recommend you do is to find good business mentors (with strong business track records) who you could learn from. I would also recommend doing a short business related course to get the basics of business if you don't know anything about business already.

What some people do is apprenticeship under a businessperson for a few years before venturing out themselves i.e. learn the ropes before they doing it all themselves.

Even if you do decide to start a business, you do need a trade of some sort e.g. is it in plumbing? Do you intend to buy and sell businesses? Do you intend to go into ecommerce, finance, consulting, catering? There's no such thing as starting a business for the sake of a business; it needs to be in a trade of a sector of some sort. Unless you know the trade that you want to do, it's a little difficult to point you in the right direction.

There are plenty of support and resources for small businesses. One that I would recommend is the Federation of Small Business (https://www.fsb.org.uk/membership.html), but there are others e.g.

Hi there,

To echo MindMax 2000, starting a business can be incredibly risky for anyone - even for someone who has all the qualifications in buisness. It involves a lot of research and takes up alot of time to understand the market and what you need to be sucessful.

If you are not interested in university or an aprenticeship, I totally understand but learning never stops. What might be useful is to take courses in business you might find useful to help you start your business. Different Universities provide invidiual courses directed at individuals not interested in completing a program but would like some information. It would be useful to get experience in managing finances, computer software that you could use, conflict management, and any skill based course which could enhance the business.

Starting a business is not for everyone (I know I could not do it). However, I think with the right resources you could develop the skills to better your chances at success!

Good luck and happy to provide more context.

Thank you,
