Physician Associate Bangor 2024

I received a message saying I have been shortlisted for an interview at bangor! (yay!)
Just wondering if anyone else did too so we can share interview prep tips and just so I don't feel alone lol. Bangor was my second choice and about 4 hours from where I live so I was also starting to think about accommodation if I get in. Share your thoughts!

Heyy I literally just got an interview for Bangor!! Mine is in mid March and I was told it’s virtual, was hoping it would be in person just so I could see what the uni is like

I’ve already had 1 interview at Bolton and my biggest advice for interview prep is to prepare for typical intervkew questions (why pa, why this uni etc), ethical questions, nhs hot topics, scenario based questions, also brush up on your maths as some unis give maths questions too. Good luck

Anyone have their Bangor interview? Just had it today and thought it went quite well, although I was a bit deflated when they said they’re interviewing 60-80(?) people and only have 16 places

JUST FINISHED A MINUTE AGO!!! i think mine went quite well too. i feel as though i messed up tho when they asked me if i applied to any other places…i felt bad for lying so just said the truth and said i applied to Swansea and Bristol. Not sure if this was smart of me to do but oh well here we are. Hoping we hear back soon!!

Nice!! Glad to hear it went well for you too. Hopefully we hear good news🤞🏼 they didn’t ask me that but tbh I would’ve been honest too and said where else I applied, they would probs think you’re lying if you say you just applied to bangor and it’s your number 1 option (unless you’re from there) so don’t worry about that

Hi guys,
I just wanted to ask is there any apps, books or websites that I could use to best prepare for the interview. I feel so nervous going into it and want to make sure I'm fully confident on what I will face. Any feedback/advice/help would be highly appreciated

Hi Rlow,

I'm not able to give you any advice on your interview, but maybe try and send a message to this instagram group and they might have a group chat you could join or they might be able to encourage a few of their students to come on The Studet Room and answer this thread🤞.

Good luck with your interview

Don’t do it . There is no future in the PA role

Have you done any research into what this course leads to? Did you know that the name of the role is going to change from Associate to Assistant? The reason that it is going to change is that patients think that Physician Associates study medicine and are some sort of doctor. Court cases have now established that PAs do not study medicine. PAs are not allowed to say that they study medicine and they must say to patients that they are not medically qualified.

So what are you going to study on this course? I can tell you that. You are going to pay upwards of £25k to not study any form of medicine and to become an assistant, if you can get a job. The job situation for PAs is dire. Currently there are more students on PA courses than there are jobs advertised in a year. There are 1000s of PAs who are unemployed. Do you want to join them as unemployed at the end of your two year course?

This course with does not teach any form of medicine ( the medical model is a method of teaching) only leads to one job. If you can't get that job you are left with nothing. If you have borrowed money to pay for the course you will still have to pay that back from whatever job you can get using your first degree.

There are two options. Either use your first degree and get a job or do a different masters that does lead to a job.

There are posts from people who have done the PA course and are currently unemployed in other threads on student room do some research by reading through those and then look at the recent court cases as well as what the result of the Leng review might be.

The responsible universities have stopped this course for the benefit of students.
